1. TUVA TURISTHYTTE

At Tuva Turisthytte, you can stay in a double room or a dormitory. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend the night on the Hardangervidda plateau. After a day in the mountains, it’s wonderful to come inside, sit by the fireplace, and enjoy a good drink in the cozy log cabin. Relax and enjoy the moment! The cabin is only accessible by skis or snowshoes.

2. LANGEDRAG NATURPARK

GET CLOSE TO THE ANIMALS!

Langedrag Naturpark

Langedrag Nature Park offers a unique opportunity to encounter both wild and domestic animals. Here, you can get close to wolves, lynxes, arctic foxes, moose, reindeer, and many farm animals. The park is home to over 200 animals across more than 30 species. Every day, you can participate in feeding wild boars, reindeer, and moose in the morning, and the predators—wolves, lynxes, and arctic foxes—in the afternoon. In the courtyard and barn, you can get to know farm animals such as horses, cows, goats, and rabbits. Langedrag is just a short 45-minute drive from Geilo.

3. TOBOGGANING IN DAGALI

NORWAY'S LONGEST PREPARED SKI SLOPE!

Take the ski lift to the top and ride down the 1850-meter-long groomed toboggan run, Norway’s longest sledding hill. The ski lift takes you all the way to the top before you can speed down the hill with banked turns and straight sections designed for speed. Dagali Fjellpark has specially built sleds that can reach speeds of around 70 kilometers per hour under good conditions! From Geilo to Dagali Fjellpark, it is a short 30-minute drive.

4. GEILO HIGH FIVE

A PANORAMIC TOUR IN THE SKI CENTRE!

This tour is perfect for anyone who masters blue and green slopes. You can ski on the finest trails, enjoy fantastic views, and eat delicious food from a varied menu—all in one round. Each of the five peaks offers its unique view of the majestic Hallingskarvet and the two national parks, Hallingskarvet and Hardangervidda. The tour is designed so that you don’t need a car between the valleys, but can use the ski bus.

5. ICE BATH & SAUNA

WONDERFUL SHOCK FOR BODY & SOUL!

90 minutes of sauna and ice bathing at Ustaoset. What could be better than stepping into a warm, delightful sauna with panoramic views after a refreshing dip? This experience provides a wonderful shock for both body and soul. The ice hole is located about 20 meters from the sauna and is, of course, optional. 6. SKARVERENNET

SPRING'S MOST BEAUTIFUL ADVENTURE!

Skarverennet is the world’s third-largest cross-country ski race and Norway’s largest. It was first held in 1974, and the 2023 race marked its 50th edition. The 37 km long course runs from Finse over the high mountains to Ustaoset, and each year, 12,000 enthusiastic skiers participate. The tranquility of the mountains, the unique views, and the special atmosphere make the experience truly unique, and the joy of reaching the finish line at Ustaoset is immense. The race is held in the latter half of April and is rightly called “the most beautiful adventure of spring.”

7. DOG SLEDDING

EXPERIENCE THE MOUNTAINS FROM THE SLED!

Experience dog sledding on Ustedalsfjorden, where you can choose between tours of 5 or 10 km. Each dog team has two sleds, and you can either drive yourself or sit comfortably and warmly in the sled. You can also book dog sledding at Langedrag Nature Park, a great family activity that can be combined with a day at Langedrag! The tour starts from the dog yard and takes you between the moose enclosures at Langedrag, where you often encounter curious moose watching from inside the fence.

In recent years, the restaurant has received awards for its wine list from the renowned American wine magazine Wine Spectator, which honors restaurants with exceptional wine lists. This accolade can be compared to the Michelin Guide in the culinary world. The restaurant is decorated like three old Hallingstuer, with cozy fireplaces and painted walls. Here, you can enjoy traditional Halling cuisine, local specialties, and exquisite à la carte dishes. They specialize in game dishes such as grouse, reindeer, and venison, but also offer a gourmet menu for those who desire it. In the middle of the restaurant stands a well-stocked cognac cart, and the wine cellar holds nearly 5000 bottles for aging.

9. CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING IN BUDALEN

VIEW OF HALLINGSKARVET NATIONAL PARK!

A cross-country ski trip to Vestreim through Budalen is one of the most beautiful tours in Geilo. The trail goes through open landscapes, protected by three mountain walls, and offers a fantastic view of Hallingskarvet. Along the way, you pass many mountain farms that are still in operation. Halfway through the trip, you reach the Vestreim rest area, where you can enjoy food and drinks in the sun. After a break and some refreshments, you continue the rest of the tour.

There is something truly special about standing on top of a mountain. After climbing all the elevation, you are rewarded with a fantastic view and a fun ski descent! With its unique location near the majestic Hallingskarvet National Park, Storestølen Fjellhotell is a great starting point for mountain tours. From here, you have easy access to peaks such as Einsetnuten, Urvassnuten, Blåbergi, and Såteggi, which vary in difficulty and length.

12. MOUNTAINS & FJORDS

With Geilo as your base, you have a unique opportunity to experience both fjords and mountains in the same day. The train takes you directly from Geilo to Myrdal station, where you can transfer to the Flåm Railway. This train journey is known as one of the world’s most spectacular, taking you through impressive nature, past Rallarvegen, steep mountainsides, frozen waterfalls, 20 tunnels, and many viewpoints all the way down to Flåm. In Flåm, you can take a fjord cruise in the Nærøyfjord, a journey so special that it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You return to Geilo the same way.
