Fishing in Geilo
Fishing is a great activity for the whole family!
Fishing and sport fishing are an important part of the Norwegian outdoor culture and an activity suitable for everyone! The fishing season lasts from when the ice melts until 30th of September. Geilo offers high-quality fishing opportunities, all year round, whether you want to fish on your own, with a guide or want a tailor-made experience. Geilo is located in Hol municipality and here there are plenty of fishing opportunities, you can choose between 90 fishing lakes and river stretches, everything from small idyllic ponds, to large open high mountain lakes and varied river stretches, located from 446 to 1523 m above sea level. Fishing is a great activity where the youngest members of the family can learn to appreciate nature. Remember that fishing for children and young people under the age of 16 is free. Trout is the dominant species, but you will also find good char waters. Other species will also occur. The size you can expect is between 100-1500 grams, but every year some fish up to 3kg are caught.
