Huldreskogen
An outdoor adventure gallery where you can experience and get to know the underground.
An exciting project from artist Margrete Birkeland, in collaboration with Visit Geilo and Hol municipality, has created a unique outdoor initiative that everyone can enjoy!
In Huldreskogen, almost right next to the fishing pier and the shelter at Slåttahølen, you will find a campfire and a great outdoor art photo exhibition with motifs from Margrete Birkeland's exhibition "The Huldre People, before they are forgotten". As you approach, you are likely to see the Huldra enticing you closer. Although it can be risky to follow her, we promise you a magical experience in Huldreskogen! Here you can explore the underground in their right elements, and let your imagination run wild.
The exhibition consists of large easels in solid wood, texts with exciting stories, a fire pit, benches, and an outdoor "nature stage". Everything is arranged to give local residents, schools, tourists and cabin people a magical experience. Here you can read, learn and fantasize about how the underground live and how they were once a more central part of our lives than they are today.
Huldreskogen opened on 15 September 2018. Come and experience it all year round!
