Sleigh rides are ideal for both larger groups and individuals looking for a comfortable outing or transportation to one of Geilo’s restaurants. The Austrian sleighs accommodate up to 10 people and come with wheels for use on areas with insufficient snow. Early booking is recommended, especially for specific dates and times, as sleigh rides are a popular activity.

A RELAXING RIDE WITH HORSE AND SLEIGH!

Geilo Hestesenter offers both regular sleigh rides from the stable, known as "Sleigh Ride," and exclusive tours where they pick you up from hotels or a designated location, called "Exclusive Sleigh Ride." Each round trip lasts about 45 minutes.

During the ride, you'll be comfortably provided with warm blankets and furs, allowing you to enjoy the winter evening in peace and comfort. Experience the sound of bells, the glow of torches, and the warm breath of the horses. This is an ideal way to experience Geilo from a unique perspective, whether you're looking for a relaxing outing or a special adventure.

Riding through winter landscapes offers a unique and exciting experience. With varying terrain and winter-trained horses, such as Icelandic or Dølahorses, some prior riding experience is beneficial, as the ground can be uneven and the horses may encounter snow.

Clothing

For sleigh riding and winter riding, dress according to the weather conditions. Wear standard winter clothing, including a hat and gloves. In the sleigh, you’ll be wrapped in warm blankets and sheepskins to keep comfortable and warm.

Safety and insurance

Sleigh riding is a safe activity for everyone! Winter riding is recommended for those with some experience, as horses may be lively and the terrain can be uneven due to ice and snow. Before your ride, you'll participate in preparations, including fetching, grooming, and saddling the horses. Rides are led by experienced instructors who ensure you feel secure on the horseback. Each ride is adapted to current weather and trail conditions.
